Birelart archives the season debut of the FIA Karting European Championship

The 2026 FIA Karting season officially began with the first round of the Senior and Junior European Championship at the La Conca circuit.

OK Senior – Sala ends with the fastest lap
During the La Cona weekend, Filippo Sala (CL Racing Team) confirmed his speed, standing out from the free practice sessions. In qualifying and heats, the Birelart driver pushed hard to stay consistently in the fight for the top ten, although slowed down by inconsistent tyre performance. With a new set of tyres for the final, Sala regained competitiveness and the strong race pace he had already shown. After a not ideal first lap, he managed to recover positions, setting the fastest lap of the race.

A positive European round also for Ivannikov, Sharp, Rousseau and Mazzola. All were very competitive during free practice but, like Sala, were affected by inconsistent tyre performance between qualifying and heats. In their case as well, the potential shown suggests a good level of competitiveness for the next rounds of the season. First European race in the Senior class for Da Silva, with two excellent recoveries of over ten positions.

OK Junior – Birelart Junior drivers in the fight
A different European seasonal debut for each Junior driver, but all showed good performance improvements. In qualifying, Nuvola Morales confirmed his speed in his second race with the Racing Team, finishing in the top ten. A similar path for Legenkyi (CL Racing Team), who worked to recover positions during the heats, slowed by incidents and contact on track. In the Super Heat, Legenkyi achieved one of the best comebacks, gaining nineteen positions. FIA debut for Barrichello Kart colors with Achille Rea, fighting during the heats and Super Heat with nearly ten positions gained. Improving results for Julia Angelard, and first European experience for d’Ambrosio.

Birelart’s European season will continue in Valencia with the second COTF round from April 30 to May 2, and from May 7 to May 10 for the FIA European Junior and Senior Championship.
