Birelart at work in the Kristianstad COTF round ahead of the European Championship
Filippo Sala finished fighting for the top five in the penultimate round of the 2026 Champions of the Future, an important event for the whole Birelart Racing Team ahead of the FIA Karting European Championship.
OK – Sala among the front runners
The first of two race weekends at the Asum Ring in Kristianstad ended with positive signs ahead of the FIA Karting European Championship for the BirelartOK Senior drivers. Filippo Sala (CL Racing Team) was one of the standoutdrivers of the COTF weekend, making the most of P3 in his qualifying session. Strong heats, including one victory, allowed Sala to fight at the front again on Saturday. He finished second in the Super Heat and sixth in the Final, fighting for the top five until the end. Sharp (VAR by Birel) also showed good pace in qualifying and the heats, with a third and a fourth place among his best results. Unlucky retirements forced the Birelart driver to start the Final from the back, where he showed good speed and recovered eleven positions. Mazzola alsoimpressed by qualifying P2 in his session, just a small gap from the overall pole position. Difficult heats were followed by good recoveries into the top five, giving useful information ahead of the European Championship. Ivannikov alsomade up more than ten positions during the heats. Positive debuts with the Racing Team for Nico Kotowski, Ina Rostad and Kristian Gundersen.
OKJ – Positive weekend for Legenkyi
In OK Junior, Oleksandr Legenkyi (CL Racing Team) continued the progress already shown in the previous events. Despite a difficult qualifying session, the Ukrainian driver gained ten or more positions on several occasions, including in the Super Heat, showing strong pace throughout the weekend. Rea and Morales also did their best on their first appearance at the Kristianstad circuit, making good recoveries, including the ten positions gained by Morales in the final heat.
The Birelart Racing Team will remain in Kristianstad (Sweden) for thisweekend's final round of the 2026 FIA Karting European Championship for OK and OK Junior.
