Sala competitive in the opening round of Champions Of The Future

The weekend at the La Conca circuit (Muro Leccese) marked the start of the European season, with the first Champions Of The Future race now concluded, comebacks and competitive performances from Birelart drivers.

OK Senior – Strong competitiveness from Sala
Heavy rain during Thursday’s qualifying sessions shaped the weekend, with twosessions more challenging than expected. During the heats, strong competitiveness emerged, with high-level recoveries from all drivers. Sala (CL Racing Team) was among the most consistent across the five heats, regularlyworking his way toward the top ten. This positive trend continued in the Super-Heat and especially in the OK Final. The Italian driver gained twelve positions and set the fastest lap of the race, his second of the weekend. Rousseau was alsoamong the top performers, showing good speed throughout the weekend and steadily recovering positions. Sixteen places gained in the final and a fight for the top ten. An unlucky outcome for Sharp, who was also among the standout drivers in the heats, including a third-place finish and twenty positions gained. Ivannikovimproved from the heats to the Super-Heat, while useful work was done ahead of the European Championship for Mazzola, Cocchianella, and Da Silva.

OK Junior – Seasonal debut for Morales and Dambrosio
Two official debuts with the Birelart Racing Team took place over the weekend: Nuvola Morales and Tommaso Dambrosio. Both started their COTF season by improving session after session. Positive qualifying for Morales and competitive heats, while Dambrosio showed strong race pace with ten-position recoveries.
Legenkyi was among the best in Friday’s heats with four consecutive comebackswithout mistakes, including fifteen positions gained in the third heat. A similarprogression for Rea, racing for the first time in Barrichello Kart colors, whileJulia Angelard also showed a proactive and improving performance.

After the preparation weekend, next week (10–12 April) it will be time for the FIA Karting European Championship for OK Junior and Senior drivers, once again at the La Conca circuit.
