WSK Super Master Series 2026 completed for Birelart drivers
With the final weekend at the Franciacorta track, the Birelart Racing Team completed the WSK Super Master Series 2026.
KZ2 – Bertuca and Wolfe fighting for the win
The KZ2 weekend was very competitive from the start, with Cristian Bertuca and Noah Wolfe both setting the second and third fastest times in qualifying. Duringthe heats, both the Italian and the British driver followed a similar path, bothbeing among the main contenders. Bertuca took two wins and one second place, while Wolfe took one win, one second, and one third place. These results allowedthem to start from first and second position in the prefinal. In the penultimate race on Sunday in Franciacorta, Bertuca used his pole position to win the prefinal and secure pole position for the final, while Wolfe finished third and started from the second row. The start of the KZ2 final was not as good as before, and Bertucalost some positions. However, his strong pace allowed him to fight at the front and finish in P5, while Wolfe finished in sixth place. Top ten for Hilbrand, alwaysconsistent and moving up toward the top five. Worth mentioning Ider’s weekend: despite an unlucky retirement in qualifying, he recovered more than ten positions in each heat and fifteen positions in the final, showing great speed. Ritonen and Knopjes also improved. Filippo Sala (CL Racing Team) completed his KZ2 debut, immediately finishing in the top ten of the category, a result he could havefought for in the final as well without a race incident.
OK Senior – Mazzola competitive
Mazzola once again proved to be competitive at the Franciacorta circuit and showed improvement in the Senior class. He qualified within the top five of hisgroup, achieved a second place among his best heat results, and secured two top ten finishes in the Prefinal and Final. Ivannikov was also competitive, fighting for top positions up to the prefinal, while Cocchianella followed a very similar pathin his second race of the season with the Racing Team. Good speed was alsoshown by Sharp and Rousseau, although slowed down by some race issues.
OKJ – Julia Angelard showing great improvement
The final round of the WSK at Franciacorta was not very favorable for the Junior drivers, but all of them are improving their performance. Among the best results, Legenkyi (CL Racing Team) achieved a top five in the heats, while Spencer made strong recoveries, gaining more than ten positions. It was a positive weekend for Julia Angelard, who was close to reaching the final after three good heats and gaining five positions in the Prefinal.
Mini – Strong debut for Kotowski
The first part of the season is also completed for the Birelart Mini drivers. One of the highlights was the debut of Jack Kotowski from the United States, recentwinner of the Florida Winter Tour Rok Micro. It was his first time atFranciacorta, and he immediately showed speed and good adaptation, with twofourth-place finishes in qualifying and the first heat. Despite some naturaldifficulties during the weekend, the American driver made one of the best comebacks, gaining twenty positions in the Mini U10 final, just outside the top ten. Torchia also had a positive weekend, always at the top of the standings and finishing third in his prefinal. Sheetov and Lutu fought in Mini Gr.3 and bothqualified for the final.
Marino Spinozzi, Mini Class Team Manager: «We finish the Super Master Series certainly in a positive way. In Mini U10, Torchia confirmed his speed asalways, continuing to improve his performance. The third place recovered in the prefinal was really convincing, as was the whole weekend. Unfortunately, in the final, while he was fighting in the leading group, he was involved in a racing incident. In any case, we are very satisfied with Ferdinando and how he isstarting to become more and more consistent. On track with us we also had Jack Kotowski from the United States, a very high-level debut for him. He proved to be very fast, there were some small mistakes due to inexperience, which are completely normal, but in his first race in Italy during a WSK event he finished by recovering twenty positions. He could have achieved a really great result, but weare sure it will come soon. In Mini Gr.3, Lutu finally secured a place in the finalin his second WSK race with us. Unfortunately, contact in the Final slowed himdown, but it was still a good weekend. Sheetov did not have an easy weekend butwas still fast; in the prefinal he had a problem that forced him to start from the back. He then gained many positions and we are satisfied with that. It’s a weekend that still leaves a bit of a bitter taste considering the great potential wehad, but once again it confirms that we are working well and already heading in the right direction».
Jordon Lennox, Direct Drive Team Manager: «The Super Master Series and the first part of the season have come to an end with a lot of work, extremely valuable from everyone. Both Senior and Junior drivers have shown significant room for improvement, in both categories we could have achieved even more results without certain race circumstances. The objective was to gain more and more feeling with the new technical package and that is what we did. Now the most important races will arrive, starting from the Champions Of The Future, where we will aim to do our maximum right away»..
Riccardo Longhi, KZ Team Manager: «Certainly a positive weekend in Franciacorta where, with the package and the IAME engine, we made some progress. We were in the top positions practically throughout the whole weekendwith Bertuca, Noah and also Hiltbrand, up until the prefinal. We won heats, set fast laps and the pace was really consistent. Unfortunately, a small mistake by Bertuca at the start of the Final cost him the fight for the podium. We stillfinished close to the top positions with all three. We were missing something in the final, but it was definitely a positive Super Master Series with great progress and still room to fight and always aim for success. I am also satisfied with the other KZ2 drivers who carried on their respective weekends in a consistentlyproactive way».
Birelart will be back on track next week for the first round of the Champions Of The Future, the competition that always comes before the FIA Karting EuropeanChampionship. The event will take place in La Conca (Muro Leccese) from April 2 to 4.
