Strong showing from Birelart in Valencia

Champions of the Future Euro Series - Valencia (ESP) - 10, May 2025

The Birelart chassis once again shone on the international scene at the opening round of the Champions of the Future Shifter Series in Valencia. With four drivers finishing in the top ten and six others qualifying for the KZ2 Final, the Birelart, CL Racing and VAR by Birel teams proved the competitiveness of their equipment in all conditions, from the heat of the first few days to the cooler, wetter conditions of Saturday morning.

All the drivers, karts and technical team adapted perfectly to the challenges of the Spanish track and the behaviour of the tyres throughout the weekend.

Corentin Rousseau (CL Racing) got his weekend off to an ideal start with a 3rd place in his Qualifying group, before a series of solid heats (2nd, 3rd, 3rd) propelled him to 3rd place in the intermediate rankings. Also 3rd in the Super Heat, he battled for the Final podium for a long time before dropping back to 9th place due to a penalty.

Juho Valtanen, who started 12th in Timed Qualifying, impressed with his overtaking to move up to 4th after the heats. He finished 3rd in his Super Heat and 4th in the Final, before also being penalised.

Jean Luyet (Birelart) made progress throughout the meeting, rising from 8th in his group in Qualifying to 6th in the Final. He was immediately followed by Noah Wolfe (VAR by Birelart), 7th in one of his very first races in KZ2, just one week after his podium in OK at Portimão.

Jenson Graham (CL Racing), Martti Ritonen and Samuele Leopardi also livened up the Final with their fine comebacks, while Jay Urwin, Genis Civico Espona (CL Racing) and Hugo Besson were unfortunately forced to retire before the finish.

Riccardo Longhi, Team Manager Birelart

"As well as being the most represented brand in Valencia - almost a quarter of the field - Birelart demonstrated that it is synonymous with quality as well as quantity. Rousseau deserved a podium finish, only to be sidelined by a race incident. Juho Valtanen confirmed his fighting spirit, while Noah Wolfe impressed in his fourth gearbox kart race, undoubtedly the most competitive yet. We're hoping for more stable conditions for the European Championship, but whatever the case, the team has proved it's ready."

The Birelart team remains in Valencia to continue its preparations for the first round of the FIA Karting European Championship - KZ, which kicks off this Friday with Qualifying Practice. At the same time, the team's 'direct drive' section will be heading to Viterbo for the next three weekends, culminating in the third round of the European Championship at the beginning of June.
